Protection spells are the best spells for beginner witches to start practising witchcraft with. Quite simply it’s because nothing can go wrong.
They are generally easy to perform and deal with positive energies, so even if you mess up, you will remain safe. The worst-case scenario is, the spell doesn’t work. No harm, no foul, no negative energies backfiring.

This spell will protect you from bad luck and negative energies. It works by creating a protective energy field through your aura.

- White or purple candle – This represents you
- Black candle – This represents the Earth Dragon
Method
- Cast your circle by envisioning a white light coming down from the universe into your crown, through your heart, down to your navel, and from your naval outwards to envelop you and your surrounding space.
- Facing North, summon the Earth Dragon by lighting the Black candle and chanting

This is my will so mote it be. - As you chant, imagine energy moving from the dragon candle to the one that represents you. See the energy around your candle as a green light in the shape of an egg.
- Once you feel this has been accomplished, light your candle from the dragon candle. See your magick happening and know you are protected.
- Snuff out your candle and put it in a safe place. Any time you need additional protection, light this magickally charged candle.
Remember to snuff it out, don’t blow it out, and put it in a safe place.
